And we call ourselves a modern democratic nation. Children must be encouraged to leave homes and stand on their own feet as soon as they can.... In India children are always Dependant on their parents care even after marriage. If we teach children at schools to think independently, we can actually change the way Indian society works.

Yes such education may change the youngsters over a longer period of time but political goons think differently to their own favor. It is they who divide and sadly even love fails to succeed or rather get accepted in their world. The only fate for such lovers is then to die. Modernity teaches them to love but people here still press for the retro end.

It is so sad to hear such stories happening in our country. My hometown being Poona and not having ventured into the rural parts of India, its like a culture shock where the interaction between the opposite sex is considered immoral. Something must really be done to do away with these depraved ’honour’ killings.

Atul,

I agree politicians play a huge role in such matters. But arent we the people who bring them to power? However, the culprits must be given very harsh punishments in order to deter others from following their methods.
